Aurangzeb reviews corporate, capital market reforms at SECP

ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb visited the headquarters of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), where he chaired a high-level meeting to review key developments in the corporate and financial sectors.

During the meeting, SECP Chairman Dr Kabir Ahmed Sidhu briefed the finance minister on the commission’s performance and ongoing initiatives. SECP commissioners also attended the session.

The meeting reviewed matters related to the corporate sector, capital markets and the non-banking financial sector, with discussions focusing on strengthening corporate governance and promoting an effective regulatory framework.

Participants also discussed measures to encourage investment, develop capital markets, improve the ease of doing business and promote company registrations. The meeting further reviewed initiatives aimed at ensuring the sustainable growth of Pakistan’s corporate and financial sectors.

Muhammad Aurangzeb reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment, strengthening regulatory enforcement and promoting fair business practices.

The finance minister also appreciated the SECP’s actions in issuing notices to state-owned enterprises to improve regulatory compliance.
