CANBERRA: A 110kg shipment of ivory on its way to Malaysia has been intercepted in Perth, according to an Australian Associated Press report.
It said Australian Customs and Border Protection Service officers spotted the ivory on Sunday while examining an air cargo shipment from Malawi.
West Australian regional commander Rod O’Donnell said smuggling endangered wildlife and wildlife parts was a very serious issue.
We are dedicated to shutting down this horrible and cruel trade,” he said in a statement.
