SYDNEY: The Australian sharemarket edged slightly higher at the open, following a record peak on the Nasdaq index on Wall Street overnight and renewed strength in financial stocks.
At the 10.15am (AEST) official market open, the benchmark S & P/ASX200 index was up 7.5 points, or 0.13 per cent, at 5732.8 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index added 7.8 points, or 0.14 per cent, to 5732 points.
