BAKU: In Jan–July 2013, the country’s foreign trade turnover totaled $20bn (+3.42% versus Jan-July 2012) against $33.56bn in 2012, $36.326bn in 2011, $27.9bn in 2010, $20.818bn in 2009, and $54.9bn in 2008. In 2012 it fell by 7.61% against rise of 29.92% in 2011. The best indicator in 2011 was registered in April ($3.38bn) and in 2012 – in April as well ($3.439bn). In 2013 the best index was recorded in May ($3.16bn).
The State Customs Committee (SCC) informs that for Jan-July 2013 Azerbaijan exported commodities of 1677 names for $13.86bn (-1.55% versus Jan-July 2012). The February’s export ($2.26bn) is still the best for the current year. In 2012 export totaled $23.907bn versus $26.57bn in 2011, $21.3bn in 2010, $14.698bn in 2009, and $ 47.756bn in 2008.
For Jan-July 2013, the country imported goods of 5,387 names for $6.181bn (+16.63%) against $9.65bn in 2012 (-1.06%). This year’s best import was made in May ($1.212bn). In 2011 the figure reached $9.755bn versus $6.599bn in 2010, $ 6.119bn in 2009 and $ 7.16bn in 2008.
Positive balance on import and export operations for Jan-July 2013 amounted to $7.682bn versus $16.918bn for 2012. In 2011 it was $ 16.814bn against $14.725bn in 2010, $ 8.578bn in 2009 and $40.59bn in 2008. In 2011 the best index was recorded in May ($ 1.8bn) and in 2012 in December ($3.268bn). In 2013 the best indicator is still recorded in February ($1.455bn).
“For Jan-July 2013 customs fees totaled $764.015 million, including $157.982 million of custom duties, $550.761 million of VAT, $45.232 million of excise duties and $10.039 million of road taxes,” it was reported. As a result, overall customs fees for Jan-July 2013 made up 12.36% of import versus 12.52% in 2012 and 11.7% in 2011.
Over Jan-July 2013 Azerbaijan residents and non-residents conducted trade operations with 141 countries of the world versus 155 in 2012 and 149 in 2011. In Jan-July 2013 foreign trade operations involved totally 5,237 legal entities and individuals, including 3,219 legal entities (241 participants from state sector and 2,978 companies from private sector) and 2,018 individuals.
