QUETTA: In a move hailed by the restaurant industry, the Balochistan Revenue Authority (BRA) has announced a significant reduction in the Balochistan Sales Tax on Services (BSTS) for restaurants, effective immediately. This revision aims to stimulate business growth in the sector while also encouraging the adoption of digital payment methods.

The standard BSTS rate for restaurants has been significantly reduced from 6% to just 4%. This substantial decrease is expected to provide much-needed financial relief to restaurant owners across Balochistan, potentially leading to more competitive pricing for consumers and increased customer footfall.

Incentive for Card Payments: BSTS Reduced to 2%

In a bid to promote digital transactions, the BRA is offering an even lower BSTS rate for customers who choose to pay using credit or debit cards. Restaurant bills paid via card will attract a BSTS of only 2%. This initiative not only encourages the use of digital payment systems but also provides a direct financial benefit to customers opting for cashless transactions.

BRA Highlights Benefits for Businesses and Consumers

The Balochistan Revenue Authority emphasized that these revised rates are designed to create a win-win situation. Restaurants are anticipated to benefit from reduced tax burdens and the potential to attract more customers through competitive pricing strategies. Consumers, in turn, will experience lower dining costs, especially when utilizing digital payment options.
