Bears bounce back as PSX adds 142pts till midday

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) Thursday recouped some overnight losses by gaining 142.45 points to reach 30908.46 points level till midday.

The stocks recorded the highest trading level of 31029.17 points and lowest level of 30766.01 points, with the volume of 90.4 million shares, having over Rs5 billion value. As many as 259 companies were active; of which 156 advanced, 89 declined and 14 remained unchanged.

The three top traded companies were TRG Pak Ltd with a volume of 11,354,500 and price per share of 25.70 (-1.13), K-Electric Ltd with a volume 8,782,000 of price per share of 7.02 (0.00), and MapleLeafCement with a volume 4,814,000 of price per share of 83.60 (1.37).

The top three gainers were Sapphire Fiber with price per share 663.90 (31.20), Ghandhara Ind with price per share of 461.65 (21.98) and ICI Pakistan price per share of 468 (15.84).

The top three losers were Ferozsons (Lab) with price per share of 1060 (-40.76), Atlas Battery with price per share of 700 (-15) and Biafo Ind per share of 262 (-10.58).

On Wednesday, the stocks closed lower amid fall in global equities and commodities, as the PSX bench mark KSE-100 shares index tumbled 326.60 points (down 1.05) to settle at 30766 points. Traded volume decreased by 31% to 106m shares, while traded value decreased by 15.6% to Rs7b/$69m. Out of total 311 traded companies in the session, 208 closed in decline, 87 in advance while 16 went unchanged.
