LAHORE: Ladies beauty parlor owners and Eunuchs have urged government to draw back the imposition of Regulatory Duty (RD) on make-up products.

Talking to Customs Today, a ladies beauty parlor owner Tarab Hamid said that government might be against the make-up of the women as it has imposed 10 percent RD on lipsticks, eye liners, face powder and other beauty products. She said high rates of make-up products would affect the rates of parlor’s services to ladies.

On the other hand, Eunuchs also showed reservations over the government policies regarding high taxes over beauty products. They said that most of the members of our community go to different wedding function to entertain people and use make-up products almost daily for such ceremonies. They said that government should facilitate the consumers instead of imposing taxes.

It is important to mention that Revenue division has issued a Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO) 121(I)/2015 here on Wednesday to impose the RD on 314 items pursuing the decision of Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).

According to the SRO, RD rate has been increased up to 10 percent on lip make-up preparations, perfumes, eye make-up preparations, nail polish, face powder, talcum powder, face and skin creams and lotions, tonics and skin food, shampoos, cream for hair etc.
