VITEBSK: The customs services of Belarus and Latvia plan to set up a joint working group of experts. The relevant agreement was reached at a meeting held in Verkhnedvinsk District to discuss cooperation between the customs services of Belarus and Latvia, BelTA learnt from the press group of the Vitebsk customs.
Partaking in the meeting were representatives of the State Customs Committee, the Vitebsk customs and a delegation of the customs department of the State Revenue Service of Latvia.
The parties agreed to establish a bilateral working group of customs experts who will work out the approaches to the sharing of data about the customs control of goods and means of transport and to establishing the data exchange obtained as a result of the use of inspection systems.
The experts also discussed the use of the institute of authorized economic operators in the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union. The two parties exchanged the information on the measures taken by the customs authorities to reduce the time spent on crossing the Belarusian-Latvian border by vehicles and noted the importance of ensuring the stable operation of the adjacent points on the Belarusian-Latvian border in peak traffic days.
