Belarus restricts poultry imports from France, Scotland

PARIS: Belarus has restricted poultry imports from Haute-Garonne of France and Fife of Scotland, BelTA learned from the Veterinary and Food Control Department of the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

According to the World Organization for Animal Health, one case of highly pathogenic avian influenza has been registered in France’s Haute-Garonne; one case of low pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) has been registered in Scotland’s Fife (the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland).

In this context, Belarus has introduced temporary restrictions on the import of live birds, incubator eggs, zoo and circus animals, poultry meat, all kinds of products made from eggs, down hair and feather, forage and forage additives made of poultry, forage of vegetable origin, hunting trophies (feather game), and second-hand equipment used to keep and slaughter poultry from these regions.

Avian flu is a contagious disease resulting in inhibition, swelling, affection of breathing organs and digestion.
