DUBLIN: The entire country went a bit crazy over a crisp cafe opening in Belfast recently, with the shop receiving ravenous interest normally reserved for unusual celebrity appearances.

Now Dublin is set to get its own crisp cafe thanks to Tayto, who will be opening a popup shop on Dublin’s Wicklow Street for the month of March. Tayto’s menu will be a more simplified affair compared to its independent Belfast counterpart, which offered 35 different sandwiches as well as soup and drinks.

Dublin customers will be able to choose from four different sandwiches, each one intended to showcase a classic Tayto flavour the Cheese and Onion Classic, the Salt and Vinegar Sarnie, the Smokey Bacon Butty and a Prawn Cocktail treat.

At €2 a sandwich the shop is bound to be packed for much of its open hours, and better yet €1 from each sale will go to the Dublin Simon Community. The shop is part of Tayto’s ‘More than Just a Crisp’ campaign.  Customers can also purchase exclusive merchandise in-store, as well as tickets to Tayto Park. Sam McGuinness from Dublin Simon Community said:

“As we continue to see an increase of people turning to us for outreach, accommodation, recovery and prevention services we are delighted to have the support of Tayto. Tayto customers will help raise vital funds so that we can continue providing services to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
