BKIA AFU foils smuggling of 21-kg gold from Dubai into Peshawar valued Rs237m

PESHAWAR: The customs officials at the Bacha Khan International Airport have aborted an attempt of smuggling 21 kg of gold from Dubai into Peshawar on Friday.

Deputy Collector Customs Fazle Samad said the passengers were traveling by PIA. There were 27 blocks of gold recovered from their luggage.

The value of one block of gold is Rs88million. The total price of the seizure is Rs2376million. The deputy collector has praised the customs officials of the Air Freight Unit of the Bacha Khan International Airport for such a seizure.

Collector Customs Qurban Ali Khan appreciated the customs officials and stressed the need for encouraging zero tolerance for smuggling.

The accused have been apprehended while further interrogation will be carried out after filing an FIR.
