ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered that two vehicles belonging to a convicted bank manager be handed over to a visually impaired woman after she recovered Rs19.2 million of the more than Rs20 million she lost in a financial fraud case.
A division bench comprising Justice Azam Khan and Justice Inaam Ameen Minhas heard a miscellaneous application seeking recovery of the remaining amount. The court directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to recover both vehicles belonging to convict Ramiz Javed and submit a detailed report. The victim, Darakhshan Mirza, thanked the bench following the order.
Assistant Attorney General Azmat Bashir Tarar informed the court that Rs15.9 million had already been received by the victim, along with two more cheques worth Rs2.8 million and Rs530,000 received a day earlier. He assured the court that both vehicles would be recovered within a week.
Ramiz Javed, a former bank manager, is serving a five-year sentence at Adiala Jail after being convicted of defrauding Mirza of more than Rs20 million. A trial court had found him guilty and sentenced him accordingly.
The IHC’s division bench had earlier dismissed Javed’s appeal against his conviction and, in the same verdict, had ordered recovery of the defrauded amount. After the recovery remained incomplete, Mirza filed a miscellaneous application with the IHC seeking enforcement of the order.
