Brothers arrested with heroin and cannabis

BERLIN: Sean Kenny, 23, and his brother James, 21, were arrested as police waited for them at a railway train station.The Liverpool pair were caught in possession of more than 250g of heroin and a small amount of cannabis.

The drugs, worth an estimated £24,000, were wrapped in small bags and stuffed inside Kinder Surprise Eggs secretly inserted in their bottoms.Both pleaded guilty to the possession of a Class A substance with intent to supply at Plymouth Crown Court.

Andrew MacFarlane, prosecuting, said “Drugs were contained in their bodies and they were taken into custody.”Time was allowed for the discharge of those items, in the form of Kinder Surprise Eggs.”James Kenny was found to be in possession of one wrap of cannabis and four wraps of heroin.”His brother, Sean, also produced wraps of heroin.”They were asked to explain themselves and neither chose to do so.”

Michael Brown, defending the younger brother, said he had agreed to help transport the drugs to help Sean out of debt.He added that James had “little awareness” of the scale of the operation.Mr Brown said: “This is a man of previous good character.”James was helping out his brother, who had got into debt and as a way of dealing with that debt, was coming to Plymouth and selling drugs.

“He had little, if any, of the appreciation as to how much these drugs amounted to.”

Judge Ian Lawrie, said: “This is part of a trend of drugs being shipped down to the West Country.’

“I am going to remand you both into custody. It will do you good to see what a small room looks like.”

The pair will be sentenced later today.
