Budget 2015-16: Govt allocates Rs 100b for TDPs’ return, rehabilitation

KARACHI: The government has allocated an amount of Rs 100 billion in the federal budget for the fiscal 2015-16 for the return and rehabilitation of the Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs).

This includes money for the reconstruction of facilities such as schools, hospitals, roads, electricity, water which were affected in the area.

“This is a very effective programme that would result in a big, positive change”, remarked the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”, Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan said this while talking to newsmen here Saturday after addressing representatives from the FATA settled in Karachi.

The Governor who is on a visit to the metropolis, said that he had convened the meeting to share federal government’s policies and efforts in the wake of the successful strategy of the on-going operation Zarb-e-Azb and the positive impact of peace that is appearing there.

He said that the process of the return of a large number of TDPs is going on smoothly.

Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan said that peace in Pakistan is linked with the peace in the tribal areas.

He said that the situation there is much better today and the back of the terrorists has been broken and we will continue the process till complete elimination of such elements. Every terrorist would be chased to ensure safe future of our children in the country.

About the recent local bodies election in KPK, he said that such polls are usually held in enthusiastic manner and some complaints were also emerged.

The governor said that the process is ended now and political parties in the government and outside have come up with their comments which are sufficient and he would not like to add further.

To question, he said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had assured that upon return of TDPs, an ambitious programme will be put in place for their rehabilitation.
