ISLAMABAD: Business community paid glowing tributes to iconic social worker and philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi at a condolence reference organized by Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) in collaboration with Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI). Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry President Abdul Rauf, President Atif Ikram Sheikh, Senior Vice President Sheikh Pervez Ahmed, ICCI Vice President Sheikh Abdul Waheed, Khalid Javed Chairman Founder Group, a large number of businessmen and people from different walks of life attended the event. They expressed deep sense of grief over the sad demise of Abdul Sattar Edhi, offered condolences to the members of bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.
Speaking at the occasion, President, FPCCI Abdul Rauf said that Edhi will always be remembered in the history of Pakistan as one of the greatest persons who devoted his life for serving the cause of humanity. He said that Edhi was a standard bearer of humanity and we all should contribute to take forward his mission to serve the community.
ICCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh said that Edhi was a great asset for the country as he dedicated his whole life to serve the humanity, especially the deprived, dispossessed and poor strata of society. He said the greatest tribute that could be paid to Pakistan’s most famous son and great philanthropist was to ensure that Edhi’s humanitarian network should continue its tremendous work.
Atif Ikam Sheikh also called upon the business community and the nation to remember Edhi’s legacy and honor him by continuing his mission. He said Edhi’s humble, selfless ways and tireless efforts should inspire all of us and we should learn from him that it was our duty to help those who are most in need.
