Cake cutting ceremony at ICCI to celebrate 71st Independence Day of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry held a cake cutting to celebrate the 71st Independence Day of Pakistan. Sheikh Amir Waheed President, Muhammad Naveed Malik Senior Vice President, Nisar Mirza Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Zubair A. Malik Chairman Founder Group, ICCI former Presidents Mian Akram Farid, Tariq Sadiq, Baser Daud, Muhammad Ejaz Abbasi, Muzzamil Sabri as well as Ahmed Mughal, Ajmal Baloch, and a large number of business community were present at the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, Sheikh Amir Waheed, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry said the 71st Independence Day of Pakistan reminded us that we as a nation should work with more zeal and zest for the development of our beloved country. He resolved that the local business community would strive hard with firm determination and contribute more effectively for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan was achieved with unprecedented sacrifices which necessitated that every individual of the nation should with honesty and integrity to make Pakistan a strong economy of the region.

Sheikh Amir Waheed said that the economy of Pakistan was confronted with huge challenges as fiscal deficit has witnessed sharp rise, the debt burden has increased greatly, exports were not growing up to the real potential while imports were going up day by day and foreign exchange reserved have depleted significantly. He said these conditions demanded that every person of Pakistan including business community should work hard for the betterment of the economy. He was of the view that without making economy very strong, it was not possible to make Pakistan as a progressive and prosperous country. He said that after general elections, Pakistan was in the process of transferring power to the new elected leadership. He urged that the new government should take private sector on board and form new policies in consultation with business community so that with joint efforts, economy could be steered out of troubled waters and put on sustainable growth trajectory.

Muhammad Naveed Malik Senior Vice President and Nisar Mirza Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry said that Pakistan was achieved for a great purpose as Allama Muhammad Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had envisioned Pakistan as a progressive Welfare Islamic State. They said the nation was still way behind from transforming Pakistan into a progressive and welfare state. They said our country was endowed with lots of natural resources and if the new government take business community on board in policymaking process, Pakistan could soon be transformed into an emerging economy. Zubair A. Malik, Mian Akram Farid, Tariq Sadiq, Baser Daud, Muhammad Ejaz Abbasi, Muzzamil Sabri and others also spoke at the occasion and resolved that business community would fully cooperate with the government in endeavors aimed at making Pakistan an economically strong nation of the world. At the end of the ceremony Dua was offered for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
