The minister said that Ministry of Climate Change has formulated National Climate Change Policy and this policy will increase the role of the government in efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Mushahid Ullah urged the Muslim community to play their role in this regard and lead the cause of climate change.

The minister said that human beings are the best of the creation and have countless blessings including water, forests and a rich natural environment.

The commercial activities of humans have an adverse impact on the environment, he added. “Climate Change has posed serious problem for the whole world,” he said and urged for collective efforts of all stakeholders to reverse the negative impact on climate.

Giving example of Montreal, the minister said that two days ago the city received black snowfall which showed how much damage already had been caused to the environment due to air and land pollution.

Mushahid Ullah said that it was the responsibility of everybody to get rid off of the reasons that led to global warming, adding that there was dire need to produce energy through renewable resources.

Pakistan had already done a lot of work to produce energy through alternative sources like sun and wind.

The minister said that forests protected the environment, controlled temperature, caused rain and stopped floods.

He said Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) urged people to avoid cutting trees as he was aware of the benefits of trees for the environment.
