Cargo traffic at China’s Suzhou port likely to hit 600mt

BEIJING: Ministry of Department and Jiangsu Provincial Government approved planning of Suzhou port for 2013 to 2030 recently.

The Port of Suzhou, one of the major ports in coastal China and the key component and container main line port of the Shanghai International Shipping Centre, plays a significant role in promoting economic development in Yangtze River Delta.

The port will be divided into three port areas including Zhangjiagang, Changshu and Taicang with 14 working zones, covering a quay length of 86.9 kilometres, of which deep-water quay line 83.7 kilometers, according to the plan.

The throughput in the port is likely to hit 600 million tonnes (mt) and 750 mt respectively by 2020 and 2030.
