The first phase of the three-phase work is underway. The work to install of CCTV within the bank premises is still underway while the relevant structural work; including the construction of 14 counters, have been completed without causing any inconvenience to the taxpayers who are facilitated as usual despite the ongoing work within the bank premises. The old kiosks and booths would be removed and would be replaced by similar counters to better serve the taxpayers, Saifullah added.

Calling Collector Model Customs Collectorate of Appraisement-East Najeeb R. Abbasi the driving force behind the restructuring and redesigning of the Branch’s interior, Saifullah said that without Mr. Abbasi’s advice, guidance and support the transformation of the NBP Custom House branch would not have been possible. The renovations at the Branch are made entirely as per the suggestions of Mr. Abbasi, he added.

Abbasi, Saifullah informed CT, had invited NBP’s President Muhammad Iqbal Ashraf last month to visit the Branch, the busiest of all NBP branches authorize to collect Customs-related revenue. It may be mentioned here that with the addition of three branches recently in Karachi; including the Korangi Industrial Area; Awami Markaz and Model Branch Clifton, the number of NBP branches authorize to collect Customs-related revenue including the Custom House branch has increased to a total eight in Karachi. Four NBP branches including the Nadir House branch, which is collecting Customs-related revenue for some time as well as the Karachi Stock Exchange branch, the Nicholas Road branch within the premises of Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the Main Branch are the other authorized branches.

He informed that a total of 8 CCTV cameras would be installed inside the inside premises of the Branch in the initial phase while a total of 15 close circuit television cameras would be installed including one CCTV camera at each of the two entrances to the Branch. The renovation of the branch along with the installation of the CCTV cameras and the QMS would help us offer taxpayers a efficient and courteous service and all this would not have been made possible without the valuable suggestions, guidance and support of Cllector Abbasi, Saifullah said.
