CDA decides to expand Ataturk Avenue

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced to expand the Ataturk Avenue, popularly known as Embassy Road.

The authority will also be constructing a second carriageway to G-10 from the roundabout at the service road (west) to Khayaban-i-Iqbal. The carriageway will be called 11th Avenue.

City managers reviewed PC-1 forms for both the projects on Friday and decided to place them before the Development Working Party’s upcoming meeting for final approval.

According to a CDA spokesperson, the dualisation will be carried out from Khayaban-i-Suhrawardy to Khyabaan-i-Margalla. He said work on Ataturk Avenue will cost Rs518.363 million while the second carriageway is estimated to cost Rs444.694 million. The new 11th Avenue will facilitate traffic from G-10, G-11, F-10, F-11, D-12, E-11 and E-12.
