ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz said that the civic body wanted to move fast to resolve the key issues of business community in order to facilitate the growth of business activities.
He said this while talking to a delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) that called on him led by President Khalid Iqbal Malik. Zeeshan Ali Naqvi, Deputy Mayor, Sardar Mehtab Khan and Shafiullah Marwat Director BCS, CDA were also present at the occasion.
Sheikh Anser Aziz said that ICCI should give its proposals for addressing the issues of lease extension and construction of additional storey in Marakaz that would be presented to CDA Board for approval. He said during the last meeting with ICCI on 26th October 2016, two committees, one from CDA and one from IMC were formed and said that ICCI representatives should work with these committees to develop comprehensive strategy for redressing the key issues of trade and industry. It was decided that ICCI representatives would meet with both committees within next few days to finalize proposals for submission to CDA Board.
Speaking at the occasion, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that business community would fully cooperate with CDA in its efforts for beautification of city, revenue improvement and establishing writ of the government in the city. He said Chairman was from private sector and business community would support him in making CDA an efficient and effective civic body to deliver better services and facilities to the citizens.
He said lack of parking facility in commercial centres including Blue Area was a major issue and CDA should focus on developing parking plazas in such areas. Khalid Malik Senior Vice President and Tahir Ayub, Vice President ICCI said that CDA had allotted 350 commercial plots in I-11/3, Islamabad out of which about 30 plots have started commercial activities, but CDA has now issued them notices for non-conforming use which should be withdrawn. They said workshops in I-11/3 and Sabzi Mandi should be allowed additional storey to accommodate labor. They said CDA had agreed to renew leases after 33 years automatically without any fee, but now the authority was charging 1% of market value of plot for lease renewal which was unjustified and it should reconsider this decision.
Muhammad Ejaz Abbasi, Zafar Bakhtawari, Safdar Awan, Khalid Chaudhry and Muhammad Hussain also spoke at the occasion and offered useful suggestions for resolving issues of business community.
