Custom Court awards 18 days imprisonment, fine in fraud case

KARACHI: Custom Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi awarded 18 days imprisonment along with Rs 200,000 fine each to the accused persons namely Abdul Hafeez and Muhammad Sohail who were booked in a case of submitting fake plant protection certificate and release orders and got released the consignments of unhygienic grains.

During the hearing, accused persons filed applications to plead guilty. Therefore, court awarded 18 days imprisonment along with fine to each of them.

According to prosecution, investigation officer informed the court that during the investigation, it was revealed that above named accused persons in connivance with each other submitted fake plant protection certificate release orders and got released unhygienic food stuff/ grains consignments and prosecution has sufficient evidence that accused persons fraudulently cleared the consignments on the basis of fake and forget documents.

Case was registered complainant by Ghulam Asghar Mirani, appraising officer model custom collectorate east  as violation an offence punishable under section 156 (1) (14) (14A) of the custom act, 1969.  Both accused persons were arrested dated 12/01/2016 and were released on bail dated 29/01/2016.
