PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that he would formally request the federation not to extend Custom Act 1969 to Provincially Administrated Tribal Areas (PATA).
He said that it was decided in a meeting of the apex committee to extend Custom Act 1969 to Malakand, Swat and PATA with a view to register the non-custom paid vehicles as these are being used by terrorists in anti-state activities.
The chief minister said that the provincial government can collect tax from PATA under the existing law and no further tax could be imposed in the area. He said that the provincial government has decided to annul extension of Custom Act to PATA.
