FBR Chairman Nisar directs to form special teams to curb smuggling through trains

SIALKOT: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan has directed Customs Intelligence Gujranwala Division to constitute special teams to check trains running from Quetta, Karachi, Rawalpindi and Peshawar.

An official of Customs Intelligence Sajjad Rubbani told Customs Today that the department has started checking trains on  Gujranwala,Wazirabad, Gujrat and Lala Musa railway stations to curb smuggling. He said that the teams would work under the supervision of Deputy Director Muhammad Anwar.

Rubbani said that the FBR was receiving information that various rail passengers were involved in smuggling. After receiving such reports, the FBR chairman decided to form teams to check smuggling through trains.

He said that strict action will be taken against those who found involved in smuggling activities.
