ISLAMABAD: The Gilgit-Baltistan importers met with Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Tariq Mehmood Pasha at his office and discussed issues related with the Web-Based One Customs (WeBOC).
Sources told Customs Today that the FBR chairman held a meeting with the representatives of Nigar Chamber of Commerce and Industries along with other importers and exporters of GB, while Gilgit-Baltistan Customs Collectorate Collector Feroze Alam Junejo and Chief Collector North Jawad Agha were also present during the meeting.
The sources said that the FBR chairman listened to all the issues related with the installation of WeBOC and other various issues faced by importers working at Sost dry port, Gilgit-Baltistan. The chairman promised to resolve issues of the importers on priority basis.
The Nigar Chamber of Commerce president told Customs Today that chairman ensured them that FBR will withdraw electronic I-Form to facilitate the GB importers. The importers and GB traders told th FBR chairman that number of importers are unable to file Goods Declaration (GD) because they did not make payments through the formal channels and cannot meet the requirements of I-Form, to facilitate the importers until fully operationalization of fabric optic at Sost dry port, the I-form will be suspended, he said.
During meeting, the importers told Pasha that there is no proper facility of internet while most of the importers are unable to use the WeBOC. They also told Tariq Pasha that importers are on strike from last one and half month due to imposition of WeBOC, said the Nigar Chamber GB president.
Tariq Pasha promised with the importers that issues faced by business community of GB will be resolved as soon as possible with the mutual understanding among Customs department and importers, the president added.
