Chief Collector Zahid Khokhar for evolving mechanism to release refund claims

KARACHI: Chief Collector Enforcement-South Muhammad Zahid Khokhar has asked the Collector Customs Collectorate-Export Dr Saifuddin Junejo to evolve a comprehensive strategy to release rebate and refunds to the exporters, it is learnt here.

Sources informed Customs Today that Chief Collector Enforcement South Muhammad Zahid Khokhar called on Collector Customs Export at his office to discuss the progress over releasing of rebate and refunds to the exporters.

During the meeting, the Chief Collector-Enforcement-South stressed upon evolving a proper mechanism in this regard and asked the collector to prepare a list of exporters whose rebate and refunds are outstanding.

On the occasion, the Collector Customs Export Dr Saifuddin Junejo apprised the Chief Collector-Enforcement South that the Collectorate has made all arrangements in order to release refunds and rebates for the previous years 2015-16.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar was already directed the authorities concerned of FBR to release rebates and refunds to the exporters for boosting the exports of the country.

It may be mentioned here that the business community has already expressed its concern over delay in issuance of rebate/refund claims to the exporters.

The Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has assured the business community and exporters that the government is determined to boost the exports of the country and ready to facilitate the export industries.
