ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate Samberial was excel from its assigned target of Rs446 million, whereas collected Rs642.86 million during the first quarter of fiscal year 2016-17.
As per the details, the Collectorate has collected Rs638.02 million as rebate during July-September and enhancing the amount by Rs4.84 million during as compare to previous fiscal year first quarter.
Chief Collector North Sarwat Tahira Habib said that Samberial Dry Port is one of those dry port of North Region which collected handsome amount regarding exports, the performance of Anti smuggling squad of the dry port is also satisfactory regarding collection of revenue.
The chief collector show her satisfaction on performance of North Region regarding collection during first quarter of financial year 2016-17 and said that she is fully hopeful that North Region will achieve its revenue target as achieved in last financial year.
She said that ant- smuggling activity is going on very well under supervision of Collectors of Collectorates like Peshawar, Gilgit Baltistan, Islamabad and Samberial, Car cells has also launched crackdown against non-duty paid vehicles.
Meanwhile with the change of weather the condition of Gilgit Baltistan (GB) staff is ill equipped to cope with the extreme weather conditions in winter. Winter is arriving but present residences of the customs staff Gilgit Baltistan (GB) are ill equipped to cope with the extreme weather conditions in winter season as there is no heating mechanism, sewerage lines get choked in winter season.
Gilgit Baltistan sources told Customs Today that all offices must be centrally heated as the station is extremely remote and temperature falls as low as -30 degree below Celsius.
The sources said that 15 single rooms for officers, 2 rooms for examination/assessment halls for WeBOC system, 4 rooms with attachment washrooms, 5 numbers of public toilets, these all expansions are urgently needed at GB Customs station to work properly during hard weather.
Sources said that during harsh and cold weather the Customs staff works 24/7 to make the Sust border secure, the better facilitation can help the staff to work with full concentrations.
