Chinese company being facilitated to complete 1,320MW power plant

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Planning, Development & Reform Ahsan Iqbal has said that the government is facilitating Power China to meet the deadline for completion of 1320MW imported coal-based power plant at Port Qasim under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

While talking to a delegation of Power China led by its President Du Chungou here he said that that power plant was a flagship project of CPEC and super critical technology was being used to construct this power plant.

The meeting reviewed the progress of 1,320MW power plant at Bin Qasim and expressed satisfaction over the pace of work on it. Du Chungou commended the efforts of government to facilitate Power China to complete the project and said that this power plant would be completed in record time.

Ahsan Iqbal said that completion of this project would be part of efforts to generate 10,000 MW by 2018 to end the energy crisis in the country. Presiding over the 58th meeting of the National Logistic Board (NLB) here, he appreciated the performance of NLC and its overall contributions in the nation building process.

Quarter Master General Pakistan Army/Officer Incharge of NLC Lieutenant General Javed Mahmood Bukhari and Director General NLC Major General Mushtaq Ahmed Faisal briefed the participants about the operational, administrative and financial matters with special reference to the accomplished tasks and future development plans of NLC.

The Board after thorough deliberations approved the Audited Financial Statements for FY 2013/14 and FY 2014/15. Appointment of external auditors of NLC for FY 2015/16 was also ratified by NLB. While giving policy guidelines to NLC, Ahsan said that CPEC was bound to open new vistas of unlimited opportunities for the industrial sector in general and logistics sector in particular.
