Chinese Company discusses executing mass transit projects in KP

PESHAWAR: The Provincial government is keen on initiating public interest projects in KP, particularly the provincial metropolis as improving the communication sector especially smooth passage of traffic and facilitating the passenger bus stations are focus areas of the KP govt.

Talking to the visiting delegation of Chinese Company CREC led by its Director Zhao Tiakun in Peshawar, Secretary Local Govt & Rural Development Jamil Ahmed said that a new geo-economic scenario was emerging and the KP government is also aligned its planning and projects in the same context.

Therefore he said the investors and regional companies are duly encouraged to initiate projects in the province which may contribute to this environment.

The Chinese company’s director was informed that the development machinery in KP is gearing up to initiate projects which may integrate Pakistan and Central Asia through economic development.

He said Peshawar hosts the visitors and traffic from the entire province especially the adjoining districts of Charssadda, Nowshera,  Mardan, Kohat and tribal belt as well and  hence besides modernizing  its bus terminals and developing  the mass transits, a curator railway line  around Peshawar has been dire need of the time that must be part of the master plan of this mega city .

The Chinese officials assured the Local Govt department that they are working on planning to transform Peshawar into a modern city especially its communication sector having all sorts of compatibility to the world.

They said the company would devote itself to the development of the city once codal formalities are concluded with the KP govt.

Earlier the delegation along with Administrator Municipal Corporation Peshawar Syed ZafarAli Shah visited the Peshawar Bus Terminal and General Bus Stand as well as witnessed traffic flow on various squares of GT Road.
