Chinese Minister Yu Guangzhou visits Italian Customs agency, signs agreements of bilateral cooperation

BEIJING: Minister Yu Guangzhou paid a visit to Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency and held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Vieri Ceriani , Ministerial Adviser of Ministry of Economy and Finance of Italy, and Mr. Giuseppe Peleggi, Director General of Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency, and signed agreements of bilateral cooperation.

The two sides highly appreciated the outcome of China-Italy economic and trade cooperation and Customs cooperation, and reached consensus on deepening the cooperation in six aspects. Firstly, to strengthen the cooperation in anti-smuggling and promote intelligence exchanges. Secondly, to push forward the cooperation in trade facilitation and implement the projects of China-EU Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) mutual recognition and Smart and Secure Trade Lanes (SSTL).Thirdly, to reinforce the cooperation in more targeted border protection of intellectual property rights. Fourthly, to promote the cooperation in solid wastes control and fight against the illicit trafficking of hazardous wastes. Fifthly, to enhance the “port to port” cooperation by expanding its scope. Sixthly, to further the cooperation in capacity building and promote the exchanges of education and training.

Minister Yu made three proposals on further cooperation. Firstly, to focus on the implementation of consensus reached by the two leaders and lay down a plan for the future cooperation. Secondly, to serve for the development strategy of Silk Road and promote the steady growth of China-EU trade. Thirdly, to enhance cooperation to realize the mutual recognition of controls, mutual assistance of enforcement and mutual exchange of information.
