ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will get its biggest ever ‘state investment’ of around $48 billion from all weather friend China, said Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha on Friday.

He said the investment would materialize during the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping from April 20-21. He said a number of projects in diverse fields including energy, defense and strategic would be signed which were crucial for economic development of the country. He said there would be special focus on the development of neglected areas, especially in Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“The investment pouring in from China is not from its business community rather it is state institutions’ own investment, agreements for which will be signed by the Chinese President,” he said.

He said there would be a significant development on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, which would be executed at a cost of $ 6 billion. Ranjha said the law enforcement agencies of Pakistan were capable enough to safeguard the CPEC route, adding that they would ensure provision of foolproof security along this route.
