RAWALPINDI: Citizens, business owners, and commercial trade associations across Rawalpindi welcomed the Federal Board of Revenue’s decision to extend the deadline for filing annual income tax returns, expressing gratitude to the government for alleviating financial and procedural pressures. The date has been extended to 15 October.

Interacting with media, computer accessory dealer Amir Saeed stated that the extension provides critical relief to small business owners and shopkeepers navigating technical glitches and economic challenges. He noted that the additional time allows traders to compile their financial records and submit returns accurately without incurring heavy penalties or facing system overloads.

Similarly, study abroad consultant Ikram Sheikh lauded the measure as a pragmatic approach toward supporting the service sector. He emphasized that the deadline extension demonstrates the government’s responsiveness to public demands, encouraging non-filers to enter the formal tax network seamlessly.

Local residents Haroon and Tahir Kamal also praised the initiative, highlighting that middle-income earners and salaried individuals faced significant hurdles in completing online documentation prior to the initial deadline. They observed that the extension provides ample time for citizens to fulfill their civic duties responsibly, urging tax authorities to continue simplifying income tax registration processes to promote compliance across all commercial sectors.
