Collector Adjudication Ambreen serves show cause notice on potatoes importer

LAHORE: Collector of Customs Adjudication Ambreen Ahmed Tarar has issued a show cause notice to M/s Haji Shabbir for evading duty and taxes.

According to the details, M/s Haji Muhammad Shabbir, Chaudhary Nazir & Company (NTN 3781437) imported 38 consignments of potatoes from 26.6.2014 to 6.8.2014. The importer had deliberately claimed the benefits of SRO 549(I)/2008 dated 11.6.2014. The show cause notice stated that the importer with the connivance of clearing agent deliberately deprived the government of its legitimate revenue of Rs 8,143,998/- (on account of sales tax of Rs 6,922,398/- and on account of additional sales tax Rs 1,221,600/-).

It is pertinent to mention here that Collector Adjudication gear up its efforts to conclude the hearing of pending cases on priority basis.
