Collector Adjudication-I issues show cause notice to M/s Zareen Traders

KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I collector has issued a show-cause notice to M/s Zareen Traders for allegedly evading duty and taxes of Rs 6.2 million.

According to the show-cause notice, during the scrutiny of import data related to the imports of surgical items, it was revealed that M/s Zareen Traders, with active connivance of their clearing agents M/s Shamin Ahmed and Company, imported five consignment of different surgical items under PCT Heading 9624.2100 and cleared the subject goods at lower values than the values determined vide valuation database letter no 36 issued by Directorate General Customs Valuation dated 08-07-2016.

It was observed that the importer intentionally and deliberately got the subject goods cleared at lower values with mala-fide intention to deprive the government exchequer of its legitimate revenue.

It was evident that M/s Zareen Traders willfully and intentionally got their consignments cleared at lower values and evaded duty / taxes to the tune of Rs6.2 million.

Therefore, M/s Zareen Traders has been served a notice to either appear personally or depute its consul to contest the allegations leveled in the show-cause notice.
