Collector Adjudication Raja Tahir issues notice to suspects involved in Iranian ceramic tiles case

FAISALABAD: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Collector Raja Tahir Majeed has served show cause notice on a suspect who is allegedly involved in a non-duty paid Iranian origin ceramic tiles case.

Sources told Customs Today that the collector issued show cause notice to Muhammad Iqbal who brought ceramic tiles into the country without payment of customs duty and taxes worth Rs 4,340,443.

In pursuance of information, the Customs intelligence staff intercepted a Mazda truck near Chenab Chowk Jhang Road Faisalabad which was loaded with Iranian origin ceramic tiles. The officials seized the tiles under Section 156(1) 89. Later the case was forwarded to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now Collector Adjudication Raja Tahir issued show cause notice on the violation of Section 16 with the Section 2 (S) of the Customs Act, 1969.

However, the adjudication has directed the  Customs Intelligence to file their replies on hearing date in order to defend the case  which was allegedly person brought items into country by illegal routes evading the leviable duty taxes.
