Collector Arslan reviews performance of Customs Preventive

ISLAMABAD: Customs Collector Dr. Arslan Subuctageen Monday held a meeting with preventive field staff to review the performance of Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) and car cell of first five months (July-November) of financial year 2016-17.

Deputy Collector Shahid Jan told Customs Today that Arslan urged the preventive department to gear up anti-smuggling activities and made more and more seizures of smuggled goods and vehicles.

The collector also directed the car cell to launch crackdown on non-duty paid vehicles’ owners and tighten noose around the smugglers, Shahid Jan said, adding that the collector also showed satisfaction on the performance of the ASO and car cell.

The officials of car cell and ASO informed the collector about hurdles and issues faced by them during crackdown on smugglers, while the collector assured them that their problems will be solved on early basis, Jan added.

The collector told the preventive department that he will again call a meeting at the end of second quarter in order to review the performance of anti-smuggling squads.

Meanwhile, Customs North Region Chief Collector Sarwat Tahir Habib also showed satisfaction on the performance of ASO and car cell during first five months of financial year 2016-17.
