Collector Arslan’s collectorate seizes smuggled items worth Rs 80m

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate has foiled a huge smuggling attempt and seized smuggled items worth Rs 80 million from local market.

The Islamabad Customs confiscated 4,850 smuggled mobile phones, 15,750 cartons of imported cigarettes, 240 kilogram of Indian gutka, 2,467kg aluminum printing sheets and 1,342Kg Bopp films during the action.

A team of Islamabad Customs, following directions of Collector Arslan Subuctageen, intercepted a truck bearing Registration No NH-3195 near Tarnol interchange, Islamabad and recovered the said items, which were being transported to Lahore from Peshawar.

The officials confiscated the items after the driver of truck could not show documents regarding the legal import of items. It may mention here that the accused person claimed that the value of seized items was Rs 30 million.
