ISLAMABAD: Zulfikar Ali Chaudhry, Collector MCC Islamabad, visited the new Islamabad Airport and advised the CAA for meeting the requirements of the customs for vigilance of passenger and luggage.
The collector made the visit at the airport to check the work of buildings and other infrastructure for carrying out functions of the customs.
The Collector MCC Islamabad told Customs Today that the Shaheen Airport Services (SAPS) have almost completed its cargo sheds including Gerry and Askari but Pakistan International Airline’s shed is incompleted due to certain revisions.
During the visit, the Collector told the Civil Aviation Athority (CAA) officials that, at Arrival Lounge, just scanners are not sufficient but
the customs staff should also provide glassroom at the Arrival Site for checking of the passengers thoroughly.
The collector was told by the CAA staff that pre-scanning system has been installed first time at the NIIA Collector office so that he can watch the notorious and suspicious passengers personally.
The collector visited all the building of the Customs Department that comprises Arrivals, Departues, Restrooms Canon Center, Accompanied Baggage Site, Accompanied Baggage Area and Air Freight Unit Building. He remarked that rest of the work can be inaugurated on time if it is done speedily.
He appreciated the CAA for building the new airport on the international standard.
Additional Collector Nisar Ahman and Assistant Collector Ali Asad BBIA Islamabad accompanied the Collector MCC during the visit to the new Islamabad airport.
