ISLAMABAD: Saeed Khan Jadoon, Collector Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad, has decided to clear the rebate refund cases which have been pending from 2013 to 2014. The collectorae will clear the cases up to 2014 by 31st of December 2017 and pending rebate cases till 2015 will be cleared till the end of financial year 2017-18. The Collectorate of Islamabad paid Rs 21.87 million rebate to the exporters in October this year.
In an exclusive interview with Customs Today, Jadoon that the ministry of commerce has advised the customs formation to seize the banana coming from Kashmir. The ministry showed its concern over the harmful microbes in the banana being carried from Indian held Kashmir.
He said that the area of rebate claims has been neglected since many years whereas the collectorate is focusing it to conclude the pending cases from 2013 to 2014.
In this regard, he said the collectorate paid Rs 21.87 million rebate under the head of customs duty to exporters during the month of October of fiscal year 2017-18 against the assigned target of Rs 20 million. And the collectorate will pay more than Rs20million rebate refunds in November FY17-18.
The collector further told interviewer that the collectorate has completed the list of rebate refund claims according to which payment will be made within the next two to three months. The collectorate will finish the pending rebate refund cases of year 2015 till 30th of June 2018.
The Collector MCC Islamabad said that the collectorate is paying pending rebate refunds alongside the payment being made to fresh rebate refund claims of current Financial Year 2017-18. The Islamabad Collectorate has made the process of cheque-distribution to exporters online so that the human participation in said process could be discouraged, he added.
The Collector MCC Islamabad further said that there were 79 rebate claim cases of exporters relating to the textile industry which were paid on propriety bases because textile industry is important sector of the country. He informed CT that he has dug out pending Order-in-Originals (ONOs) to know what orders were given in favor of the collectorate and what orders given against the collectorate.
Saeed Khan Jadoon said that, under the command of Chief Collector North Sarwat Tahira Habib, the Collectorate is performing well on the revenue and anti-smuggling activity sides. He is optimistic to meet the assigned revenue collection target under all the heads for 2nd Quarter (October to December) FY17-18 as the collectorate has surpassed the allocated revenue collection under all the heads during 1st Quarter of the current Financial Year 2017-18.
