Collector Raja Tahir orders to impound Toyota Mark-X

FAISALABAD: The Customs Adjudication Collector Raja Tahir Majeed has ordered to impound Toyota Mark-X car under customs laws while issuing an Order-in-Original (ONO) in favour of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation.

Following information, the Customs Intelligence intercepted a used Toyota Mark-X bearing Registration No AAL-757 near Chak Road, Faisalabad and asked driver named Mohammad Touseef Anwar son of Mohammad Latif Anwar, Resident of Bazar No. 3, House No. 326 Mohallah Razabad, Faisalabad, to show document regarding legal import of the vehicle.

But, he failed to produce the same, besides the officials could not found online computer record of the vehicle on the website of motor registration authority.

The Customs Intelligence impounded the vehicle and sent its chassis for forensic test. The report revealed that the Toyota Land Cruiser’s number was bogus and not original. The report also clarified that present chassis number is not original, so the case was sent for adjudication.

Meanwhile, No one appeared to defend the case from respondent side and nor any written reply was received from the respondent side to the adjudication. While Intelligence Officer Mohammed Thair Iqbal and Intelligence Officer Mansoor Nasir appeared from the prosecution side and asserted that the seized vehicle fell under the ambit of section 2(s), of the Customs Act, 1969.

Therefore, Collector Raja Tahir Majeed after reviewing the record of the case issued an ONO and ordered to impounded the vehicle under Section 156(1)89(1) of the Customs Act, 1969.
