DC Saima Aftab serves notice on alleged cloth smuggler

FAISALABAD: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Saima Aftab served show cause notice on accused person through the Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation allegedly involved in smuggling of cloth.

As per details, the deputy collector issued notice to Ahsan Trader who was driving the truck at the time of confiscation. The Faisalabad Customs Intelligence impounded the truck loaded with foreign origin cloth after the driver failed to show documents regarding the legal import of the truck.

The Customs Adjudication issued notices to Ahsan Traders on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969. The accused was also called upon to show cause as to why the impounded vehicle should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of law. The duty and taxes involved in the case has been estimated at Rs 4.34 million.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused persons to file reply by given time, which is also last date of hearing.

Earlier, Deputy Collector Saima Aftab while hearing the directed both parties to appear before the authority in next hearing. The case might be decided in next hearing, it is learnt.
