Collector Saeed Jadoon directs operation against showrooms having non-duty paid vehicles

KARACHI: Collector Saeed Jadoon has directed the officials concerned to initiate 4th phase of operation against showrooms of non-customs paid vehicles.

Sources told Customs Today that raids were conducted by customs teams on various showrooms across the city. The customs team was assisted by FC, police and magistrate. The raids were conducted on showrooms in Jinnah Town, Shahbaz Town and Airport Road. Several vehicles were impounded and taken to Custom House Quetta for necessary action.

Sources said that meetings were held with Brig. Sajjad of FC, SSP Operations Nadeem Hussain and Home Secretary Dr. Akbar, etc.

The raids were led by Deputy Collector Preventive Amanullah Tareen. Major Asfandyar represented FC, magistrate Arbab Inayat, police officers and Kambar Malik of Customs were also present during raids. The raiding party after conducting raids on showrooms visited customs check-post Yaro. Meanwhile a non-duty paid vehicle was spotted, chased and eventually impounded in Saranan, Pishin.

In light of the directives of Supreme Court and High Court of Balochistan, operations against showrooms dealing in non-duty paid vehicles will continue in future as well. It is worth-mentioning that raids such as these on showrooms by customs teams are unprecedented in Balochistan.

Earlier customs authorities issued notices to these showrooms, before the crackdown was launched. The campaign against smuggled vehicles was started the influx of such vehicles surged and even these vehicles were used in terrorist activities.
