Collector Saleem orders renovation in AIB of Appraisement (West)

KARACHI: The renovation work of Appraising Intelligence Branch (AIB/R&D) of the Model Customs Collectorate-MCC of Appraisement (West) is in the offing, it was learnt here Tuesday.

The sources informed Customs Today that Collector Muhammad Saleem during his visit to the AIB/R&D Section directed the authorities concerned of the AIB/R&D Section to present a summary of the allocated funds required for the renovation of entire AIB/R&D Section including Law/Legal Branch and others, so that the Collectorate can issue the required funds for the renovation work.

They further informed this scribe that the Collector asked the officials concerned of the AIB/R&D Section to refurbish entire branch on contemporary lines in order to give a firm impression for the visitors and importers, who visit the AIB/R&D Branch.

“During the visit, the Collector expressed his satisfaction over the performance of AIB-R&D officials, while stressed upon more deterrence by the officials concerned in order to detect tax-evasion cases through mis-declaration and violation of SROs,” they added. The sources further informed that  Mr Saleem has encouraged the officials concerned of AIB/R&D and said that the Collectorate deputed competent and efficient officials in AIB Branch, as the Section has its own significance in detecting and recovering the evaded duty/tax. The sources revealed that a sum of around Rs0.5 million is needed to renovate the offices of AIB/R&D Section of the MCC-Appraisement (West). It is pertinent to mention here that the offices of the R&D Section of MCC-Appraisement (East) have been renovated recently by the sum of around 0.3million.
