Collector Seema issues notice to car owner, seller for tempered chassis number

ISLAMABAD: Customs Adjudication Collector Seema Raza Bukhari has issued a show-cause notice to the owner of a car, Johar Zaman and car seller Malik Motors Bahria Phase 3, Islamabad.
The Toyota Hilux Surf with a Sindh registration plate has been proved tempered after a forensic laboratory test. The model on registration book was 1996 while the car was of model 1998. The chassis number was LN185-1004175 while after chemical treatment it turned to be VZN185-0057961. The showroom owner is also under investigation as the car buyer presented a purchase slip. The car was seized from Rawalpindi Saddar by the Customs Preventive Division assistant collector. Collector Seema has asked both the parties to reply the notice until December 2 with original documents of legal import duty.
