LAHORE: Collector of Customs Adjudication Zafar Akhtar declared seizure of a Toyota Land Cruiser legal as respondents neither responded to the show cause notice nor appeared before the adjudication to defend their case despite they were provided ample time and opportunities of hearing.
According to ONO issued by the collectorate of adjudication, the collectorate examined the case record and heard the oral arguments put forth by the seizing department.
The respondents neither responded to the show cause notice nor appeared to defend their case despite they were provided ample time and opportunities of hearing providing the fact that they had nothing to produce in their defence. The ONO further added that due to the reasons the charges levelled against them in show case notice stand established.
The ONO added that consequently the Land Cruiser was confiscated under clause (89) of section 156(1) of the Customs Act. 1969.
The Land Cruiser was seized by Customs Intelligence and Investigation authorities in Defence area and the vehicle was reported to be the non-customs paid.
