LAHORE: The construction of road from canal area market to Mughalpura Dry Port has started, which is the main access to the dry port. The road had been in dilapidated condition for the last two years but no one was interested to reconstruct it.
Customs Today has already reported about bad condition of the only route to Mugahlpura Dry Port and had highlighted the problems of transporters and employees of Customs Appraisement, Pakistan Railways and NLC.
Now Pakistan Railways authorities have started construction of road and material has reached to the site. Sources said that the road will be constructed within one month and it will be of high quality carpeted road.
While talking to Customs Today an employee of Pakistan Customs Appraisement told that bad condition of the road was a big issue and after completion of the road access to the office will be easy. A transporter told that due to damaged road, accidents were very common here and reconstruction of the roads will not only save the time but also decrease the maintenance charges of the vehicles.
