Corruption scam: Special team to conduct inquiry into Excise Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD: Director-General Excise and Taxation Punjab has constituted a four-member audit team under the supervision of Director Audit and Enforcement Lahore Muhammad Asif to investigate into the financial and administrative irregularities in Excise and Taxation office Rawalpindi. The audit team has already started its work from August 1, 2015.

The audit team will review the overall performance of five different departments of Excise and Taxation office Rawalpindi for the last one year, sources said.

According to sources, the audit team will observe that the fees collected in the term of token tax, registration fees and transfer fees are properly paid to banks on next day at the same rate or not. The team will also look into the TO forms of the Rawalpindi office and also review the token tax collected against the commercial vehicles and life time token tax as well.

Sources further added that the audit team will also thoroughly scrutinize the Rs 30 million corruption scam in property tax.
