ISLAMABAD: A Special Court Central Thursday granted one-day physical remand of former Director General (DG) NADRA Tahir Akram to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in a case of alleged corruption.
Special Judge Central Malik Nazir heard the case against Akram regarding alleged embezzlement of funds in affairs of rented building of National Database Registration Authority (NADRA).
During proceeding, the FIA official requested the court to grant further physical remand of accused to complete the investigation process.
However, the counsel for former DG NADRA, Ilyas Saddiqui Advocate contradicted the FIA stance and argued that the FIA had already been granted six days remand of his client but no development was witnessed in the case.
After hearing the argument, the court reserved its verdict and later granted one-day physical remand of the accused.
The court also directed the FIA to produce Tahir Akram tomorrow with complete investigation report. It may be mentioned here that the FIA had arrested the accused after cancellation of his pre-arrest bail in corruption case.
