ISLAMABAD: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench has rejected Ayyan Ali’s plea, challenging the decision of the Customs Adjudication for recovery of Rs 50 million. Prior to this, the court reserved its decision after hearing the arguments of both parties.
In his decision, Justice Ather Mehmood said that Ayyan Ali’s case does not fall in his jurisdiction. The court said that the Customs Adjudication Islamabad imposed penalty on Ayyan Ali so she can approach to the Customs Appellate Tribunal in this regard.
It is necessary to mention here that Ayyan Ali had already filed a petition in Customs Appellate Tribunal but due to non-availability of Customs Appellate Tribunal judge, she approached the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench. Sources said that the counsel for Ayyan Ali has decided to file a petition in the Islamabad High Court in near future.
