Court sentences drug smuggler to 7 years imprisonment

LAHORE: A Special Court of Anti-Narcotics has sentenced one  Amir Shafi to seven years imprisonment. Shafi was involved in drug smuggling.

According to sources, Shafi was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Force in 2014 when he was trying to smuggle heroin from India to Pakistan. He was carrying 2 kgs and 700 grams of superior quality heroin which was hidden in his luggage. Judge of the Anti-Narcotics Court Khalid Nawaz has announced the verdict. The accused is also bound to pay Rs 200,000 as fine.

Anti Narcotics Force submitted detailed challan of case along with proofs including heroin recovered from the accused. Court after examining the proofs and investigation reports declared him culprit and send him to jail for 7 years and ask him to submit fine as well otherwise he will have to spend two more months in jail.
